What to Expect
Size of the band
9 to 15 pipers and 3 6 drummers, depending on the day.
Uniforms
Unlike most Pipe Bands, we do not wear a "standard" tartan. Band Members are free to wear their own tartan. The remainder of our uniforms are matched. This produces, in our opinion, a more colourful spectacle when we play as a Band.
Length of Performance
Most parades the band plays are 30 to 90 minutes long. On parade, the band will play for approximately 75% of the time, weather permitting.
When playing in the circle, the band will march playing into the performance area and form up into a circle. The band will play for approximately 20 minutes with brief breaks between tunes, and then march out playing. Depending on your preference and event, the performance can include solo piping or an encore.
Getting Ready
The band will need a space for preparation and tuning. The space should be available at least an hour before the scheduled performance time and ideally should be some distance away from your event. (Pipes and drums are loud!) If outside, it should be sheltered from the sun.
Weather
Extreme cold or heat (less than 5o or more than 30o Celsius) can affect the tuning, volume and responsiveness of the instruments. Rain is generally not an issue.
